tanja roscic
born in Zürich, 1980 lives and works in zagreb and zürich
tanja roscic has created a visual language using materials appropriated from everyday life. she uses these familiar items in sculptures, performances, drawings, and collages, forming worlds that capture moments of transience, metamorphosis, and the in-between. crashed cars, neon lights, and hanging foam sculptures populate her chaotic, immersive environments. referencing practices of the occult and alchemy, she transforms her materials through deliberate actions including melting, mixing, dissolving, dying, welding, cutting, and covering. likewise, her drawings feature images of hybrid figures in near-states of being, or wildly composed collages made of various materials that hint at the process behind their making.
